Today went much better than yesterday did. I thought I had a presentation due--turns the professor meant next Tuesday. It's okay because now I can improve it and make it better. But this was the cool part. Since we didn't have presentations, the professor had another activity for us. We were to get into partners and make a collage diorama that conveyed one of the seven deadly sins to an 'audience' (the rest of the class). My group got the greatest sin ever: Sloth. We took a piece of notebook paper, drew a quick couch with a lounging stick figure on it, and taped it to the back of our box. Then we got to sit around and talk for the next forty-five minutes. I'd like to say that no-one had troubles identifying which sin ours was. Then we had a discussion about each project and what made each sin a sin. It was a good class. Lab didn't end early, but we got a good chunk of things done. I got a free cookie today. And I now have clean pants and bowls. And now I'm going to bed. Yes, today was a much better day than yesterday was. Feelin': Much Better Jamming to: Peter Case--'Steel Strings' |

I went to the writing club today; I think I'll enjoy myself. They started with a freewrite, and the prompt was to take a favourite line from a movie or song or something and to take it out of context and write something from that. The frosh next to me couldn't think of one, so I told him to use "Give him a sedigive!" He looked at me blankly and said "'Give him a seditive'?" "No, not seditive; sedi give." He didn't know what I was talking about! He didn't know the movie! What are today's kids coming to, honestly! On a completely different note, we got to watch South Park in my Disabilities Lit class. They tested the kids in the show for ADD using The Great Gasby and A Farewell to Arms. I giggled. Feelin': Sleeeepyyy... Jamming to: The Killers--'Somebody Told Me' |

My grades got posted! And I did better than I thought I would! Go me! Don't ask me how I did it, because there are a few classes I couldn't tell you how I managed it. Started my J-Term classes today. I think that I'm going have fun, but I'm going to be working my butt off. Don't expect to hear from me or see me until the end. I'm going to be reading so much my eyes are going to fall out, but that's okay. At least it will be for something interesting. But that's it for now. Feelin': SET. It was good to have a day where I could just hang loose; it will probably will be the last I see in a while. I hung out with friends, one first this afternoon in the Shoebox (the new offical name of my dorm room) and later at the State Fair. I got a cute llama (great converstation piece--I even got stopped at one point about it), my honey sticks (how I love thee), cheap Vixens tickets (if your'e going to the fair and go to the second floor of the Grand Stand, you can get tickets for any of their home games for half off of the regular adult price; go there!), and enough deep-fried foods and milk to kill a small horse. We ran into some other friends and it was nice to get away from it all for a bit. And tomorrow, I shall no longer be calm and happily relaxed. Quick call to all of you out there! I need a poem that a). is written by someone not dead yet and published, b). 'speaks' to me, c). something I haven't read before, and d). something I can write a paper on.
I think the hardest part of that is (a) and (b), because first, I usually read dead people's poems when I do read poetry and secondly, poem's don't usually really...talk to me I guess.
Anyhow, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Feelin': Mheh Jamming to: No CD...AGAIN... |

So...Had rehersal today...don't have it tomorrow...but there IS a Panic meeting tomorrow and a Panic rehersal on Sunday, if that says anything about the state of the play...that, and we still haven't done an uninterrupted runthrough yet....
Either way (it's that time again!), you all should come.
I saw March of the Penguins today with a friend of mine today...frickin' AWESOME!! I wanted to go up there and hug all those penguins...And the movie didn't really sugarcoat things, either. There were quite a few tramatised children over the dead penguins bits. But it still was gorgeous. And short. I got to use my bus transfer for both ways.
And for all of you trying to reach me, go to Piperline for just about any information as to how to get ahold of me. Feelin': Artsy...Again... Jamming to: Missing It SOOOO Much... |

Today has been a long day. Not necessarily bad, but long. Rehersal started early, and I really didn't do much that first bit. It was a just a lot of sitting around. The second half (after we started late...) was a tech of the show...it didn't go so great. The director has some new ideas for the beginning of the show, and now I need to learn some new things about the board to make it happen. I had to move that dratted wheeled light, and I still have to fix some cues. Early morning for me tomorrow...and we OPEN on Sunday (and you should ALL come!). I'm concerned. We haven't had a sound tech yet, and the lighting tech really should have been earlier. Granted, some of that is my fault, but other things were things beyond my control.
Anyhow, you should all come. It's Sunday, 4th of September at 7:30. It's completely free, so money shouldn't be a problem for anyone.
But this evening was fun. I went to the State Fair with two of my friends--one who had never been to it before--and had a very nice time. We all pretty much wanted to do the same things--look at the animals, eat fatty but delious food, and just hang out. I introduced one of them to the honey section of the fair, and they were amazed to learn that different flowers produce different flavours of honey. My allergy meds started to wear off in the middle of the sheep barn and my feet really hurt, but it was worth it. It was a LOT of fun.
Yeah. Thus is my life. How's everyone out there doing? Feelin': Tired, But Good Jamming to: Only the buzz of the Design Studio Computer... |

Went to the White Stripes concert yesterday. That was awesome. The opening band lacked energy, but got better as the went on, but still weren't that impressive. But the White Stripes just ruled the stage. Jack White would every now and then take a picture and then randomly chuck it out into the audiance. The music was great, the energy high, and all of the techies/roadies for the White Stripes got to wear fedoras. I'm so jealous...
The lights at that were just great. LOTS of pretty flashing lights! They had a good designer. And LOTS of pretty expensive lights and a really good hazer. Going to this things really makes me wonder if I should just skip out on theatre and go straight on to music concerts.
Today I found out some good news. The warrenty that my brother was not impressed with me buying when I got my laptop is going to pay its dues, as my computer is still very much covered by it, meaning that they have to fix my DVD-ROM and I don't have to pay them. Nyah nyah nyah nyah, computer companies!! Of course, on the flip side, they get my computer for like two or three weeks, which will just stink, but I guess it's worth it. While it will be hard and very painful and annoying and just plain torture, I can live without my computer, particuarly since I don't have to pay for it to be away.
I also discovered today that R44 makes that huge orange ladder of DOOM that I have to light really, really pretty!! It makes me so happy!! Especially since I had not much of a clue when I picked it to put it on the ladder. And while I still hate my washes--because they are currently frickin' UGLY--I am hating them less because half of them have gels in them. I haven't gotten to half of my gels, nor have I finished focusing like I had hoped to be, but at least the things have gels now aren't as hideously ugly as they were before. I'm hoping to get more people in to help me focus tomorrow because focusing things on the eletrics really stinks and takes for friggin' EVER. But we'll see. Well, I'm very proud of myself. I fully expected to be up all night working on the plot, and I got the bulk of it done before I went to dinner tonight. I did all the other paperwork as well, which I'll probably regret later because I don't know if I'm going to have to fix anything yet. We'll find out tomorrow how many mistakes--glaring and not--that I've made. Feelin': Accomplished! Jamming to: Moody Blues-'The Voyage' |

So, it's official...my DVD driver is dead and it hates me. And I just discovered I could have gotten a longer ethernet cable for free because one of my friends would have given it to me...which I found out after I opened and installed mine...*sigh*
On a different note, you should ALL come to the evening preformance of Until Someone Wakes Up. It will be Sunday, the fourth of September at 7:30 PM in Anne Simely Theatre. The director is doing an really amazing job, I think, with this play and it's really going to be a challenge for me to light. You should all come and see how I managed to light a 22-foot ladder with actors on it in a 3/4 thrust setting. I know I'm going to go to see how I did it. And all the cool people will be coming...
For all of you other there who are not familiar with Until Someone Wakes Up, it is commonly called the Freshman Rape Play. We do it every year for the incoming Freshies to address the problem of sexual assults and rape on college campus and to get them to talk about it, rather then making them sit and listen to an admistrator drone on and on. It's fairly well-done, and pretty powerful. This year is the first year in a while that it's being shown in the evening as well, and I think it's going be a very interesting show. You should all come and see it.
And now, the moment all of you have been waiting for...The Answers for Movieness!
1). Ameliè 2). Bringing Up Baby 3). Young Frankenstein 4). The Royal Tenenbaums 5). The Incredibles 6). The Road To Perdition 7). Howl's Moving Castle 8). Monsters, Inc. 9). The Lion King 10). Holiday
eliotkohan gets first place for recognising 4.5 of the movies, followed very closely by ninnie_divine at 4. Special recognition goes to forceonature for recognising one of my all-time favourites--Bringing Up Baby. I'm not surprised that no-one recongised Holiday, but I love that movie, even more than Bringing Up Baby. In my opinion, it's the best Heptburn-Grant movie EVER. But congrats for everyone who played. Yays for you all!! Feelin': Thinking-Like Jamming to: The Killers--'Somebody Told Me' |
